Keep the docs interpreter within the supported range
On every fresh docs runner, python mkdocs.py creates .docs-venv using this 3.15 interpreter and then mkdocs.py installs the repository itself with pip install .; that installation is rejected because pyproject.toml declares python = ">=3.9,<3.14". Consequently both the PR docs build and the main-branch deployment fail before MkDocs runs, so this must remain below 3.14 unless the package metadata and dependencies are updated for 3.15.

Use a supported interpreter for TA regression builds
The Run ucc-gen build in Target Add-on step later creates .ucc_venv directly with this selected python3 and installs the generated UCC wheel into it. That wheel inherits the repository's Requires-Python >=3.9,<3.14, so pip under 3.15 rejects it and every TA matrix entry stops before invoking ucc-gen; Poetry's compatible-interpreter fallback cannot help this direct venv path.

Keep Python 3.9 available for pre-commit hooks
The repository's .pre-commit-config.yaml forces Python hooks to use the executable python3.9, but this step now installs only 3.15; GitHub removed pre-cached Python 3.9 from hosted runner images in January 2026 (runner-images announcement), and pre-commit documents that this configured interpreter name is passed to virtualenv and must be system-installed. The action therefore fails while creating its first Python hook environment, preventing the authoritative lint/type checks from running and blocking the dependent release job; either continue setting up 3.9 or update and validate the hook interpreter configuration together.

Select a Poetry-compatible Python explicitly
This build selects 3.15 even though pyproject.toml permits only >=3.9,<3.14, so its later poetry install currently succeeds only by falling back to the Ubuntu 24.04 system Python 3.12. The ubuntu-latest migration begins October 19, 2026 (runner-images announcement), and the replacement Ubuntu 26.04 image provides Python 3.14.4 as its system runtime (image manifest); after setup-python adds 3.15, neither available runtime satisfies the project constraint, and Poetry does not automatically install a Python interpreter. The build will then fail before producing its artifact, cascading into the add-on tests and release job, so it needs an explicitly supported interpreter or a coordinated expansion of the package's Python range.

Document the changed test workflow runtimes
This commit changes the Python runtime used by several CI and testing workflows, including the coverage comparison job, but does not update either docs/commands.md or docs/contributing.md. Update the contributor documentation to describe the new tested runtime and its prerequisites so local guidance remains aligned with CI.
