Add rak3312_eth_gw: Ethernet/PoE support for RAK3312 + RAK13800 - #12232
Adds Ethernet (and PoE) support for the RAK3312 WisBlock core with the RAK13800 (WIZnet W5100S) Ethernet module, optionally powered by the RAK19018 PoE module. Fixes#12190.
Changes
New env rak3312_eth_gw, modelled on rak4631_eth_gw. It extends env:rak3312, adds -D RAK3312_ETH_GW, enables mesh/eth/, and pulls in RAK13800-W5100S 1.0.4 (same version as rak4631_eth_gw). The plain rak3312 env is unchanged.
ethClient.cpp: the W5100S runs on a dedicated SPIClass EthSPI(HSPI). The global SPI is already begun for the LoRa radio (5/3/6/7), and ESP32 Arduino's SPIClass::begin() silently does nothing on a second call, so it can't be re-pinned.
Link-time collisions: this is the first ESP32 target that sets both HAS_WIFI and HAS_ETHERNET with the W5100S stack. ethClient.cpp/ethServerAPI.* and WiFiAPClient.cpp/WiFiServerAPI.* both define ntpUDP, timeClient, syslogClient, syslog, initApiServer() and deInitApiServer(). The Ethernet-side names are renamed (ethNtpUDP, ethTimeClient, ethSyslog*, initEthSocketApiServer()/deInitEthSocketApiServer()). For existing Ethernet-only boards (e.g. rak4631_eth_gw) this is a pure rename with no behaviour change.
Ethernet MAC on ESP32: getEthMacAddr() uses the chip's ESP_MAC_ETH address instead of the WiFi station MAC, so both interfaces can be up at once. Non-ESP32 boards keep the old getMacAddr() path.
RedirectablePrint.cpp: syslog and ethSyslog are declared weak and null-checked. Log messages go to every enabled client (each with its own va_copy), so Ethernet syslog works on dual-stack boards and Ethernet-only boards still link.
Hardware: one RAK3312 + RAK13800 + RAK19018 unit. On 2.8.2.fad52bb (same code, at that time enabled directly in the rak3312 env) Ethernet with DHCP and the TCP API worked both with USB + PoE connected and with PoE as the only power source. Not tested across multiple units or long-term uptime.
Known issue: static IP mode comes up as 0.0.0.0 (config is saved correctly, looks like a RAK13800-W5100S library issue in the static Ethernet.begin() path). DHCP + reservation works. Details in the repo README, section 8.
This PR rebases that change onto current develop and moves it into its own env. rak3312_eth_gw, rak3312, rak4631_eth_gw, rak11310 and pico2_w5500_e22 build locally.
Retested on hardware (2026-10-25) with full erase + factory image, both USB + PoE and PoE only: DHCP, ping, client API over Ethernet, LoRa TX/RX, syslog over Ethernet, config persistence, WiFi and Ethernet at the same time. That retest found WiFi and Ethernet sharing one MAC on ESP32, fixed in 326ccb2 (dedicated ESP_MAC_ETH address). Results table: Add rak3312_eth_gw: Ethernet/PoE support for RAK3312 + RAK13800 #12232 (comment)
Library bump 1.0.2 → 1.0.4 only contains the upstream socket-index bounds-check fix.

Tested on RAK3312 + RAK13800 + RAK19018 (rebased build incl. 326ccb2, see above). I don't have a rak4631_eth_gw setup; the shared changes there are the rename plus the syslog dispatch above.
Adds a separate rak3312_eth_gw env (modelled on rak4631_eth_gw) for the
RAK3312 core with the RAK13800 W5100S Ethernet module, optionally powered
by RAK19018 PoE. The plain rak3312 env is unchanged.
- variant.h: Ethernet pins (WisBlock SPI 12/13/10/11, reset WB_IO3=41),
guarded by RAK3312_ETH_GW.
- ethClient.cpp: drive the W5100S on a dedicated HSPI instance. The
global SPI is already begun for the LoRa radio and ESP32 SPIClass::begin()
is a no-op on a second call, so it cannot be re-pinned.
- ethClient.cpp / ethServerAPI: rename globals and initApiServer/
deInitApiServer that collide with WiFiAPClient/WiFiServerAPI at link time
when HAS_WIFI and HAS_ETHERNET are both set (first ESP32 board with W5100S).

Summary
Gateway build and SPI configuration variants/esp32s3/rak3312/platformio.ini, variants/esp32s3/rak3312/variant.h, src/mesh/eth/ethClient.cpp
A new PlatformIO environment adds Ethernet build settings and the RAK13800-W5100S dependency. The gateway variant configures Ethernet pins and selects EthSPI; the Ethernet client initializes it with explicit pins during startup and recovery.
Ethernet client and API integration src/mesh/api/ethServerAPI.h, src/mesh/api/ethServerAPI.cpp, src/mesh/eth/ethClient.cpp
The socket API lifecycle functions are renamed. Ethernet client code uses Ethernet-specific NTP and syslog names, selects the Ethernet MAC when available, and initializes the socket API on the default port.
Wi-Fi and Ethernet syslog forwarding src/RedirectablePrint.cpp
Syslog forwarding checks both weak logger symbols and sends messages to each enabled logger using a copied argument list.

Explanation
Issue [#12190] coding requirements are met. rak3312_eth_gw adds Ethernet settings, mesh/eth/, the RAK13800-W5100S 1.0.4 dependency, and the RAK3312_ETH_GW build flag. variant.h defines the requested Ethernet pins and assigns a dedicated HSPI instance. Ethernet NTP, syslog, and API-server symbols are distinct from Wi-Fi symbols. Weak syslog dispatch supports Wi-Fi-only, Ethernet-only, and dual-stack builds. ESP32 Ethernet MAC selection prevents Wi-Fi and Ethernet from sharing a MAC address. The issue does not require automated tests. The disclosed static-IP limitation does not create an unmet coding requirement.

After the Ethernet globals were renamed, log_to_syslog() still only wrote
to the WiFi `syslog`, so Ethernet syslog got nothing, and boards without
WiFi (e.g. rak4631_eth_gw) would no longer find `syslog` at link time.
Declare `syslog` and `ethSyslog` weak, check each for null, and send every
message to each enabled client with its own va_list copy.

Major · Retry Ethernet DHCP when the boot-time start fails. · ethClient.cpp:291-295
src/mesh/eth/ethClient.cpp:291-295 🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift
Retry Ethernet DHCP when the boot-time start fails.
When Ethernet.begin(mac) returns 0 at boot, initEthernet() returns false at src/mesh/eth/ethClient.cpp:300-310. That return happens before ethEvent = new Periodic("ethConnect", reconnectETH) at line 323. src/main.cpp:1217 calls initEthernet() and ignores the result. No other path starts the reconnect task or sets ethStartupComplete after this failure. Ethernet and its services can stay down until reboot. The gap is in shared startup code, so it applies to every Ethernet environment. The RAK3312 gateway environment makes it reachable on that board.
Scheduling reconnectETH unchanged does not fix this. It re-runs DHCP only when the chip MAC differs from the expected MAC (ethClient.cpp:70). If the MAC matches, it skips Ethernet.begin(). It then reaches the !ethStartupComplete block at line 147 and starts NTP, syslog, and the API server with no assigned address. This assumes the RAK13800 library keeps the programmed MAC after a failed begin(). That library is not in this checkout.
The fix needs a retry that calls the DHCP Ethernet.begin path. Service startup should also wait for a nonzero Ethernet.localIP(). No diff is proposed because the retry design is not settled.

On ESP32 getMacAddr() returns the WiFi station MAC. With WiFi and the
RAK13800 enabled at the same time both interfaces used the same MAC and
the Ethernet side got a DHCP lease but was otherwise unreachable. Read
the chip's ESP_MAC_ETH address instead; other platforms are unchanged.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Retested the rebased rak3312_eth_gw build on hardware (RAK3312 + RAK13800 + RAK19018) and found one real bug, fixed in 326ccb2.
Bug: WiFi and Ethernet shared one MAC
On ESP32, getMacAddr() returns the WiFi station MAC. ethClient.cpp used it for the W5100S too, so with wifi_enabled and eth_enabled both on, the two interfaces came up with the same MAC (3c:dc:75:6f:8c:0c on both, seen in the router's ARP table on two different VLANs). The Ethernet side still got a DHCP lease, but after that it didn't answer ping or TCP 4403, not even from the router on the same segment. With WiFi disabled, Ethernet worked straight away.
Fix: a small getEthMacAddr() helper that uses esp_read_mac(mac, ESP_MAC_ETH) on ESP32 and keeps the old getMacAddr() path everywhere else. Both call sites (initial Ethernet.begin() and the brownout MAC check in reconnectETH()) now use it, so they still agree with each other. The only ESP32 target that compiles mesh/eth/ is this one (esp32_base excludes it), so the other ESP32 Ethernet boards (ThinkNode G3/M7, T-ETH-Elite, T-Connect-Pro) are not touched. Ethernet MAC on this unit is now 3e:dc:75:6f:8c:0d.
