### Peer-reviewed applications and observable-level validation

A learned Hamiltonian is an input to a physical calculation, not a guarantee
that every downstream observable is accurate. These published studies give
distinct examples of how electronic-structure models are connected to and
validated against physical properties:

| Application | What was computed and checked | Publication |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Finite-temperature electronic structure | Environment-dependent DeePTB-SK Hamiltonians and tight-binding propagation for DOS and optical properties in a **one-million-atom GaP structure**; **not** a million-atom self-consistent DFT calculation | [Nature Communications **15**, 6772 (2024)](https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-024-51006-4) |
| Localized equivariant quantum operators | SLEM prediction of atomic-orbital Hamiltonian, overlap and density matrices in a rotation-equivariant, strictly local representation | [ICLR 2025 Spotlight](https://proceedings.iclr.cc/paper_files/paper/2025/hash/7db2ffcbfd0bd361d47b7fa612bd2ba2-Abstract-Conference.html) |

Qualify how SLEM models the overlap matrix.

Line 59 groups the Hamiltonian, overlap, and density matrices under one rotation-equivariant representation. The ICLR paper uses SLEM’s equivariant representation for the Hamiltonian and density matrix, but fits the overlap through invariant two-center Slater–Koster scalars. State this distinction so the table describes the overlap parameterization accurately. (proceedings.iclr.cc)

Review comment at @README.md at line 59:
Update the README table entry to distinguish SLEM’s equivariant representation
for the Hamiltonian and density matrices from its overlap parameterization using
invariant two-center Slater–Koster scalars.

These are **different model, material and validation settings**, not interchangeable
performance claims. For device-level transport, see the separate
[DPNEGF solver](https://github.com/deepmodeling/dpnegf); the DeePTB model
does not by itself include electrode self-energies, gate electrostatics or
full device transport.
