Impact: Bug fix. ### Description: Fixes #3261. Keep the initial child-promise count immutable in the state and use it when collecting results. Callback completion no longer reads promises_.size() while cancellation clears the vector. Validation: git diff --check passed. No tests or builds were run per assignment. ### Things to be aware of: The fix is scoped to the reported call path and preserves the existing API. ### Things to worry about: Tests and runtime validation were not run. ### Additional Context: No additional dependency or migration changes.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Multiple-promise operations now resolve after all promises in the original set have completed, including when the operation is moved. This makes completion behavior consistent even if the internal promise collection changes size.

Walkthrough

The non-void and void promise states now store the original promise count and preserve it during moves. set_result_ uses that count to determine when all original promises have completed.

Both state specializations store the initial promise count and copy it during moves. set_result_ compares completions with the stored count instead of the current promise-vector size.

I’m a rabbit counting promises in a row,
I keep the first count safe as they go.
Through each little move, the number stays,
Completion arrives when all finish their days.
I twitch my nose and hop away!

🟡 Minor · Preserve cancellation in the void completion path. · multiple_promises.hpp:146-154

cpp/async/impl/multiple_promises.hpp:146-154
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Preserve cancellation in the void completion path.

The child callback can pass is_unresolved(), then cancellation can acquire the aggregate lock and mark the result canceled. The callback then reaches base_t::set_value() because promise_count_ still equals one. handle_base<void>::set_value() does not reject the canceled state, and result<void>::set_fulfilled() replaces it with fulfilled.

Guard set_value() while holding the aggregate lock. Then cancellation wins when it acquires the lock first; completion still wins when it acquires the lock first.

Suggested fix
     inline void set_value()
     requires(std::is_void_v<Result>)
     {
         std::unique_lock lock(data_->lock_);
+        if (is_cancelled(data_)) {
+            return;
+        }
         ASSERT(!has_result(data_));
         data_->result_->set_fulfilled();
         on_result_updated(std::move(lock), data_);

Update the void completion path in the callback around `completed_count` to
preserve cancellation: ensure the aggregate lock is held before checking
cancellation and calling `base_t::set_value()`. If cancellation acquired the
lock first, return without fulfilling; otherwise allow completion to proceed.
